Normally, I ask our couples to provide all the info surrounding their wedding for a blog post, then I set about to rewrite it. However, Bandi did such a great job, I don’t think there is any way I could improve upon it. So, in their own words……………
Our wedding ceremony was held at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church. The priest at the church, Father Luke Robertson, was Brandon’s priest growing up in catholic school. Father Luke is good friends with Brandon’s family and Brandon always knew when he got married he wanted Father Luke to be the presider. Our reception was held at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth. We knew we wanted our reception in a hotel ballroom in downtown, and as soon as we walked into the Omni we knew it was the place for us! It is beautiful and very elegant, and the staff we worked with were so helpful in preparing for our big day.
The colors in the wedding were navy, gold, and blush. We didn’t really have a theme, we just wanted simple but elegant and we definitely accomplished that!
I bought my wedding dress from a lovely bridal store in Houston called Mia Bridal Couture. I walked into the store and was greeted by smiling and helpful faces. As soon as I saw my dress I knew that it was the one. The designer was Enaura Bridal in New York.
The shoes I wore at the wedding were silver Sam Edelman ballet flats. I chose these simply because I knew I wanted to wear flats that I was comfortable in and were smooth on the bottom to dance in.
All of my accessories were sentimental. I wore a teardrop diamond necklace my dad bought me for my 18th birthday that I only wear for very special occasions. I wore my grandmother’s silver diamond hoop earrings as my ‘something borrowed’ (she wore matching ones in gold.) The last piece of jewelry I wore was something that I worked very hard to get. I originally thought I was going to wear my mother’s wedding dress. After having it altered, it just wasn’t ‘the one’ for me. I was pretty bummed because her dress was just beautiful, so I decided to take the sleeves we had cut off and make them into a piece of jewelry somehow. I came across a lady in New York named Monika Knutsson who specializes in making jewelry out of wedding dresses. I sent her the wedding sleeves and told her I wanted two matching bracelets out of the sleeves, one for me, one for my mom. She took the lace from the sleeves, crafted a bracelet design, took the pearls from the sleeves and used them as the outline of the bracelets, dipped them in sterling silver, and then punched my mom’s wedding date and my wedding date on the inside of both bracelets. They were absolutely gorgeous and my mom was so surprised!
I had an amazing company, Lip Service, do my bridesmaids hair and makeup. There was one lady doing makeup and three doing hair. They showed up to our hotel room at the exact time they said they would be there and got all of the girls done without any problems. They did an amazing job and all of my girls looked like royalty!
The groomsmen wore light gray Calvin Klein suits from Men’s Warehouse. Brandon wore the same suit but in black. Everyone we worked with in the store were very helpful and we got all of the suits in with plenty of time for the guys to get them altered.
The flowers at the wedding were stunning! Sabrina at Perfect Plan Events in Fort Worth was in charge of all of the flowers for the wedding. We met with her and I told her the general idea I had of what I wanted the flowers to be like and she took it and ran with it! My favorite flower is a hibiscus, but they die so quickly, so she found the perfect alternative for my bridal bouquet that was just as beautiful. She truly could not have done a better job!
Susan Holcomb of Moonlight Cakes made our wedding cakes. I showed her a picture of a cake that I liked and she made it look even better than I could have imagined! We told her we wanted golf themed for the groom cake and to just go with whatever she thinks would look best and she did above and beyond! We had a few different flavors in both of our cakes and in the cupcakes that went along with the groom cake. We had an individual cake tasting with her a couple weeks before the wedding and somehow she perfected every single flavor! She and her husband and their daughter were all so friendly and just made us feel welcome and that they were there to do whatever we asked. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
We bought our Save the Dates and our invitations from Brown Fox Creative. I met with the owner, Kristin, and we went through all of her designs and she had me pick out everything that I wanted. She took all of my choices, created three designs for me to choose from, and then created the most beautiful invitations. She made a part of the wedding that can be very stressful totally stress-free!
The Omni hotel catered our wedding. We had a tasting about two months before the wedding where we got to try several different items that we could pick from to create our menu.
Our menu consisted of:
-Brisket and smoked cheddar quesadillas
-southwest shrimp on Polenta Crouton
Seated Dinner Package:
-Grilled romaine salad with julienne jicama, smoked bacon, roasted poblano peppers, and buttermilk dressing
-Beef tenderloin medallion with rosemary
-chicken roulade stuffed with spinach and peppers
-Smoked gouda potatoes au gratin
-fresh bread basket with herb butter sauce
-four different flavored macaroons per person
1 ¼ vodka
¾ blue Curacao
Blue Raspberry Lemonade
Splash of 7up
1 ¼ Malibu rum
For our honeymoon we went to St. Lucia and stayed at the Sandals La Toc. We wanted an all-inclusive resort and had heard nothing but good things about St. Lucia. We had an amazing time and are ready to go back! We went zip lining through the rainforest, went on a boat tour where we snorkeled, went to a mud bath and hot spring, went to a waterfall, had a true home cooked St. Lucian lunch and then had their signature drink, Rum Punch, on the way back to the resort. We had a beautiful candlelight dinner on the beach our last night there. It was extremely romantic and relaxing and definitely a place made for a couples getaway.
My most memorable moment of the day was when the church doors opened and I started down the aisle towards Brandon. My eyes were locked on his the whole time and even though he had tears rolling down his cheeks, I saw nothing but pure happiness. In that moment I knew that nothing could go wrong that day because I was marrying my best friend. For the rest of our lives, through the good times and the bad, I will never forget that look on his face and the joy in his eyes.
Bandi & Brandon, thank you for making our jobs so much easier. You and your families were a joy to work with! We wish you all the love and luck in the world!
